The 8th annual FOCUS conference is the continuing fruition of a vision by Robert Miglino RRT MPS, a registered respiratory therapist, and his late wife, Maria Miglino RN, a long-time pediatric ICU nurse, who passed away in 2004 after a courageous battle with Ovarian cancer.

Robert and Maria ran the conference together for its first 3 years until Maria’s illness prevented her from continuing. The conference continues today in part as a fulfillment to the vision of Maria, who, for so many years, worked hand in hand with respiratory therapists - a group of allied health professionals she had great respect for.

Seven annual, national conferences have been produced to date and all have been fantastic events. In fact, they have become well-known as a vastly different experience from anything attendees have ever experienced at a medical conference before. Different because the Focus Conference combines a superb educational experience with a fantastic entertainment experience, all of which is included in a very reasonable registration fee that takes into consideration the fact that many nurses going to conferences these days receive little if any reimbursement to do so. 
 
The chairman of the FOCUS Conference is Robert Miglino, RRT BSRT MPS. Over twenty five other nurses, therapists and physicians assist Robert in the running of the conference and serve on the conference committee each year.
